My rating- A
This book was really a wonderful read. I LOVED it. Adam and Mariah are both very deep characters. Adam is part Indian so as his memories come back we learn about his heritage and the struggles to live as an Englishman while being only half English.
Mariah is the daughter of a gambler. She was raised with almost no resources and little company except for her grandmother. Her grandmother believed in something that might be called magic. Mariah’s beliefs and Adam’s Indian background go well together. Another man might not have understood her doing a ritual that may or may not have helped him appear.
This book was fast paced and also contained two mysteries. Mariah’s father goes missing in the beginning and discovering what has happened to him is mystery #1. Adam was shipwrecked and it is learned that the wreck was due to sabotage. Finding the saboteur is mystery #2.
The end of the book was just a bit much. I would say it was very feel good but not realistic at all.
Overall, a great read if you want a feel good historical romance that keeps you on your toes.
