Review of Always on My Mind

Summary- Leah is a royal screw up. She has dropped out of pastry school and made a mess of every relationship she has ever had. Leah comes back to her hometown to regroup and ends up pretending that she and her childhood best friend Jack are in a relationship. Even though there are hundreds of reasons that Leah and Jack shouldn’t be together they can’t seem to keep their relationship pretend.

My rating C

These characters had a nice back story and there were many funny parts in this book but overall it was only so-so.

This is the second Shalvis book I have read and it was not near as good as the the other one.

Jack is a fireman and that part of the book was very believable and well done. Shalvis is really great at researching professions. The other book of hers I read had a veterinary office as the main setting and it was very believable.

I also liked the secondary characters. This is a series I would be open to reading more for the town setting and the minor character.

I think that Jack and Leah were supposed to come off as best friends who used to love each other and who both have relationship issues. It was a great idea but I just felt like it was not very well executed.
