Summary- Jaine Austen is hired to write a song for a teen pageant contestant and is invited to come along to watch (and supply the contestant with chocolate treats). While there, a murder takes place and the mother who hired Jaine as a songwriter is accused. Jaine agrees to investigate the murder to help clear her employer.
I really enjoyed Death by Tiara. As a piece of entertainment this book is everything I could ask for. Jaine is hilarious and a totally fun character to follow. She is always commenting on what she thinks is going on in other people’s heads and it is super funny. She gets herself into all kinds of crazy situations (like saying she can ride a horse when she can’t and ending up with a runaway animal that ruins a wedding). This book is very similar to the Stephanie Plum books by Janet Evonovich in tone and humor though I think Jaine may be a little more far fetched at times.
As soon as I finished reading this book I jumped on my computer and got more of this series (reviews coming soon).
The only thing that isn’t great about the book is that it isn’t realistic. Many things are really crazy and far fetched. I could look past all that and find it hilarious anyways but this might not be a book for people looking for realism. It is however a great comedy and a decent mystery.
