Summary: Jaine Austen’s cat Prozac has been hired to star in a commercial for healthy cat food “Skinny Kitty”. Jaine is sure that this is the beginning of Prozac’s rise to fame and fortune. When the inventor of “Skinny Kitty” is murdered on set Jaine must relinquish her dreams of a life of Hollywood stardom for dear Prozac and also catch the killer.
As anyone who follows my blog is aware, I am a huge fan of the Jaine Austen Mystery series. Murder has Nine Lives is the most recent installment.
This book is true to the series. Jaine is a pleasure to follow as she does detective work. She gets in crazy situations such as dating a man who thinks his teddy bear is alive. The mystery itself was pretty good for this series. The mysteries in this series are pretty hit or miss. I suspected who the killer was early on but I was wrong on the character motives.
My only issue with this book was that it was a tad bit over the top even for a Jaine Austen story.
This series and particularly this book are fun reads. They are not really books meant to be taken seriously. I recommend them for a good laugh and an okay mystery.
