Hello all. I get to be the queen of very weird questions today it seems.
I am currently working on a novel where the male lead is an amputee due to an accident. This gives the male character several body issues.
I have seen this vaguely touched on in a few television series where the lead character had a disfigurement that caused decreased mobility and body issues but I have never read a book of the kind and it would be nice to have done so for research.
So, has anyone read a romantic story where the hero is either in a wheel chair or an amputee?
And please, no erotica. Hot romances are fine. Amputee porn is not what I am going for (and for anyone who wasn’t aware, yes, that is a fetish.)

I haven’t read a romance book where the lead is an amputee or wheelchair bound bu I did once read a book called Accidents of Nature by Harriet McBride-Johnson where the main character was a 17 year-old girl with Cerebral Palsy. There are moments in that book where she talks about the time she notices how different her body is compared to someone who doesn’t have CP, and wonders what it would be like to go on a date because she’s heavily reliant on her wheelchair and can’t feed herself.
Not sure if that will help with what you’re doing at all or if it’s the kind of thing you’re looking for. I know that when I read it, it really spoke to me because I was 17 at the time and I have CP, although not quite as bad as the girl in the book does.

Right now you can rent the movie the Sessions, he is not an amputee but it is a funny and touching movie about a guy that is basically paralyzed and want to have sex. Helen Hunt plays his therapist, it is not for children but it is an interesting moive.
